Healthier Eating & Active Living Project Update (March 2018)

The seven themes for the Healthier Eating and Active Living (HE&AL) plan have become the platform for shared discussion across a range of organisations in our region.

Four of the themes relate to food and drink and working groups have been established to build on current activity, share ideas for implementation and track outcomes. At present these groups are being led by the key health services, but this is set to grow as partners such as Barwon Water have been invited to participate.

The remaining three themes focus on increasing physical activity. Over the past few months the G21 Physical Activity Strategy (2014-2017) has been reviewed and the major finding is that the HE&AL plan provides positive direction for those organisations working collaboratively to increase physical activity. As a result, G21 is bringing together key agencies to form working parties for these three themes.

More broadly, the Backbone Support Group (comprising key leaders) is designing mechanisms to measure progress and outcomes.

This work is geared towards strengthening our partnerships in the region, using the Collective Impact approach as a structure to acknowledge our achievements and measure progress towards improving health outcomes.
